Novozymes (“we”, “us”, and “our”) is committed to protecting your personal data.

We collect and process your personal data in various ways, depending on the context of your interaction with us and the products, services, and features that you use. We do so in accordance with the applicable data privacy rules, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and other various laws and regulations in the rest of the world

This policy describes how we process your personal data when you:  

  • use Novozymes’ websites, applications, and other digital solutions where reference is made to this privacy policy (hereinafter jointly referred to as “the Websites”) 

  • have a business relationship with us, e.g., because you are working for a current or prospective supplier, customer, or another stakeholder (hereinafter referred to as “Business Partners”)

The personal data we collect and why – when you use our Websites  

We collect the following personal data about you when you use our Websites:  

  • name, e-mail address and other identification details (contact information) when voluntarily provided by you, e.g., in connection with sign-up for our newsletter or setting up a profile/account on the Websites. 

  • name, billing address, shipping address, phone number, payment information (including credit card numbers), IP address and e-mail address when you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Websites or when you add such information to your profiles and accounts on the Novozymes Websites. 

  • additional information provided by you as part of your profiles and accounts on the Websites. 

  • Information about your online interactions with Websites, which - subject to your consent - will include IP address; referrer (the website you came from); location, date, and time of visit; information about your device (browse, client ID (unique identifier for a browser-device pair) etc.), file downloads and content shared. It will also include various social media cookies like LinkedIn Insights Tag and Facebook Pixel, which enable us to show you tailored ads based on your interest.  

We process your personal data for the following purposes: 

  • the direct purpose requested by you such as e-mail notification, troubleshooting, visitor feedback. Your contact information may also be used to provide you with information or marketing material regarding our products, in accordance with the preferences you have shared with us, e.g., when you have signed up to receive a newsletter. 

  • to facilitate your access to applications, information and documents on your profiles and accounts on the Websites. 

  • to facilitate your purchase on the Website (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). In addition, we use this information to screen orders for potential risk of fraud. 

  • to develop and improve our Websites and the marketing of our products and services 

  • to customize the content of the Websites on the basis of your geographical location (language, product availability, currency etc.). 

  • to fulfill any other purpose for which you request.

We have the following legal bases for the processing of your personal data: 

  • our legitimate interest in providing you with information relevant for you or to respond to your requests, cf. GDPR article 6, 1 (f),  

  • to facilitate your entering into transactions with Novozymes and to manage such transactions, cf. GDPR article 6,1 (b) 

  • to comply with law and legal obligations, cf. GDPR article 6.1 (c) 

  • our legitimate interest in maintaining, operating, and improving our Websites, and to market our products and services, cf. GDPR article 6, 1 (f) 

  • your consent, to the extent provided, cf. GDPR article 6.1 (a), inter alia with respect to collection and processing of your personal data through the use of cookies. However, the legal basis for processing your personal data in connection with necessary cookies is our legitimate interest in maintaining and operating our website, cf. GDPR article 6, 1 (f). See further description below under “Cookies” and in the separate “cookie policy".

 

The personal data we collect and why - when you are in a business relationship with us  

We collect the following personal data about you when you are a Business Partner:  

  • Contact and identification information, such as name, work address, telephone, and e-mail address 

  • Professional details such as job titles, job function, name of legal entity represented by third party, e.g., employer company/group of companies, 

  • Information about current and past relations between you or your company and Novozymes 

  • Information about attendance on Novozymes conferences, training seminars and the likes 

  • Online interactions with Novozymes websites and solutions (see above under “The personal data we collect and why – when you are a user of our Websites“ and also our Cookie Policy in this regard)  

  • Responses to customer surveys and similar 

  • Payment data, such as data necessary for processing payments and fraud prevention, including credit/debit card numbers, security code numbers and other related billing information  

  • Personal data collected from publicly available resources (including business and employment oriented social networks and websites), integrity data bases and credit agencies 

  • If legally required for compliance screenings, information about relevant litigation or other legal proceedings or sanctions  

  • Further non-sensitive, non-confidential personal information provided by you to Novozymes and relevant for business, business relations or project management

  • Data collected through the various channels and platforms may be combined. 

We process your personal data for the following purposes: 

  • to communicate with you about products and services offered by Novozymes or by the company you represent  

  • to administer and perform marketing analysis, campaigns and other marketing activities or events, and to improve our websites, products, services, and technologies as well as providing support services 

  • to be able to negotiate, conclude and execute agreements as well as supplying, purchasing, and delivering products 

  • to administer and maintain customer, supplier and other business partner relationships and account management and moreover to administer and maintain our investor relations management as well as our media relations management 

  • to comply with legal obligations, including third party due diligence screening, and to establish, enforce or defend against a legal claim  

  • to maintain and protect the security of our Websites, services, and products, to prevent and detect security threats, fraud, and other criminal and otherwise malicious activities 

  • to fulfill any other purpose for which you request

We have the following legal bases for the processing of your personal data: 

  • our legitimate business interest as a company, c.f. GDPR art. 6, 1 (f) in the marketing and sale of our products and communication associated thereto. 

  • to facilitate your entering into transactions with Novozymes, to manage such transactions, to fulfill our contractual obligations and to fulfil our rights, cf. GDPR article 6,1 (b) 

  • to comply with law and legal obligations, cf. GDPR art. 6.1 (c), e.g., relevant trade sanctions laws, anti-money laundering laws and anti-corruption laws, finance, accounting, and reporting laws as well as for solving disputes, enforce our contractual agreements and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. 

  • to establish, enforce or defend against a legal claim, cf. GDPR art. 6.1 (f) 

  • your consent (when provided as part of your online interactions with Novozymes or otherwise), cf. GDPR art. 6, 1 (a). 

 

Storing and retaining your personal data 

We have implemented multiple technical and organizational measures to keep your personal data safe and protect it against unauthorized use and disclosure.   

Your personal information will be retained for as long as it is relevant to fulfil the purpose for which it has been registered.  

In considering how long we keep your personal information, we will consider its relevance to our business and to legal and regulatory obligations relating to documentation and archiving, which apply to us.  

 

Sharing your personal data 

Within the Novozymes group 

We may share your personal data with affiliates in the Novozymes group to the extent relevant to fulfil your specific request or otherwise for the realization of the purposes for the processing of your personal data as described in this policy. Please see the list of Novozymes’ affiliates here.

With third parties 

If required to respond to a request or a question submitted by you, then Novozymes may share your request and your contact details with our relevant business partner. 

Further, if you have requested to receive marketing communication regarding Novozymes' business and products from Novozymes or from our distribution partners, then Novozymes may share your contact details and area of interest with our relevant distribution partners, so that they may contact you for this purpose.  

We also share your personal data with third parties we work with to assist our company, such as IT service providers, data processors and consultants working under our instructions.   

Our use of cookies and tracking technology will imply that some of the data points referenced under “The Personal Data we collect and why” are shared with third parties. In most situations, we will not be able to identify you directly from the information we collect using these tracking technologies. We may share your personal data with public authorities, governments, regulatory or fiscal agencies or law enforcement, to comply with applicable law and to protect our and your rights, insurance companies, tax and legal advisors, auditors, and accountants.  

 

International transfers 

Novozymes is a global company and therefore your personal data may be transferred outside your country to other Novozymes affiliates. Your personal data may also be disclosed to service providers, data processors or other business partners, who assist Novozymes and work under our instructions, both within and outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”). Therefore, your personal data may be processed outside your jurisdiction, in a country which may not provide for the same level of data protection as where you come from. We will however ensure that the recipient of your personal data offers an adequate level of protection, e.g., as required when transferring data regarding EEA citizens outside EEA, through standard contractual clauses or other valid legal basis for such transfer. International transfers will therefore adhere to the same data protection standards as provided for by this privacy policy.

Cookies and similar tracking technologies 

We use cookies and similar technologies to track your interactions with our Websites based on the consent you have provided, when prompted at your first visit to our Websites.  

We use the information to support our marketing and performance efforts, for example, to help create reports and statistics on the performance of the Websites and to be able to present you with content and / or ads tailored to your interests across our third-party marketing tools. The information collected by cookies and similar technologies may also include your interactions with our services, the time of your visit, sites, items, and products browsed and /or purchased as well as language preferences and other traffic data.  

If you do not consent to statistical or marketing cookies or should you have cookies disabled on your machine, then you will continue to have exactly the same access to the content of the Websites as with cookies enabled, only generating slightly less accurate usage figures for our own internal reports. Should you choose not to consent to functional cookies, then parts of the Website may not work.  

Some of the cookies set on our website are set by third parties. In this regard, we will generally act as joint data controllers with such third parties. Such joint data controllership only covers the collection and sharing of personal data of visitors on our website. 

  • We use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site. Note that Google Analytics is not collecting your name or other identifying information. In Novozymes, we have implemented a proxy server when collecting and sending information about the usage of our Websites to ensure that IP addresses and other online identifiers will only be transmitted to Google in an anonymized form.   • We use the data from Google Analytics and link it with Google Ads to be able to create remarketing lists to users, who have visited the website. That means a visitor will see relevant advertising from us on Google as well as third party platforms distributed by Google.   • We use LinkedIn Insights Tag which will combine your website activity with your LinkedIn activity to create more targeted ads on LinkedIn. To read more about LinkedIn Insights visit this site here.

  • We use Facebook Pixel, that gathers data from your website activity as well as your Facebook and Instagram activity to map conversion events like filling out a contract form.   • We use Leadfeeder which collects information about your company name, industry, number of employees and activity according to the public IP address you are using for business purposes. You can read more about Leadfeeder and how it uses your data here.

  • We also use Hotjar to better understand our users’ needs and to optimize this service and experience. Hotjar collects data to create heatmaps, customer surveys and recordings of the user’s website activity on selected pages. You can read more about Hotjar and how it uses your data here.

  • When you register your personal information with Novozymes by submitting a contact form, registering as a buyer or similar, then your personal data will be linked to your interactions on the Website, i.e., your “client ID”. The “client ID” lies within the “cookie_ga” cookie but is not transmitted back to Google Analytics. We will use this data for statistical purposes when mapping the aggregated customer journey and not to distinguish between individuals. 

The information regarding Website usage collected using cookies and other tracking technologies will only be used within Novozymes and our relevant partners to increase the quality of content, service, and support for our visitors and customers and to display relevant online advertising.  

Statistical information may be made public from time to time, like information about number of visitors and users having visited the Website etc.  

In case you do not wish to have cookies stored on your PC or if you want your browser to tell you when a cookie is placed, you can easily adjust settings, and remove and manage all cookies installed on your browser by following the instructions from your browser.  

If your browser is not listed above, please do read the documentation from your browser provider to delete and opt-out of cookies in your specific browser. If you do deactivate all cookies (including functional cookies) there may be some functions on our websites that you cannot use.

Your data protection/data privacy rights 

If we process personal data about you, you have the following rights:  

  • Right to request access, correction or deletion of your personal data  

  • Right to object to the processing of your personal data to request that such processing be restricted  

Right to object to the processing of your personal data 

  • Right to request a copy of the personal data you may have provided in a machine-readable format and transmit this to another controller, if it is technically feasible (data portability 

  • If the processing is based on your consent, then you are entitled to withdraw the consent. Your withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out before you withdrew your consent. 

You also have the right to lodge a complaint against Novozymes with the authority in your country, which  addresses data privacy matters. The list of competent authorities in the EU can be found here.

If we receive a request from you to exercise any of the above-mentioned rights, we will respond as fast as possible and within the time required by applicable law. In order to verify your identity and carry out your request, we may ask for additional information.

It is our policy to post any changes we make to our Privacy Policy on this page. The date the Privacy Policy was last updated is identified at the top of the page.

 

Direct communication 

Any questions, comments, suggestions, or the like that you may forward or transmit via Novozymes.com will become and remain the property of Novozymes and will be treated as non-confidential, non-proprietary information that the company may use in any fashion and for any purpose whatsoever, including, without limitation, disclosure to other entities, individuals, and Novozymes' affiliates and agents, and Novozymes may freely use such information, concepts, technology, or other information. 
  
Novozymes will of course continue to respect your privacy with regards to this communication, and if it is necessary to disclose any personal data about you to a third party, We will notify you as to the uses We intend to make of that information.
